Open Question: Is it normal to question your own religion?

It's been roughly 6 months. I've been questioning my possess religion, and every other religion. I feel like religion is just a set of rules, that were man-made, and believed to be the word of God. I definitely believe in God, who I know is the creator of the universe, but why would God want us to have a Thanksgiving day? (Christianity). Or not drink alcohol (Islam). Would God punish a good person who didn't pray for him? Or didn't believe in "A Religion", even though that person has done good for most of his life?There are just so many question marks that fill up my mind. I am also sick and sleepy of wars that have happened because of religious beliefs. If God truly existed, would he want to set every these rules upon us? Was this world created so that we could live in fear? I also dislike hypocrites who claim they follow their religion, yet they go and do something that proves that they don't. And I just turned 22, does that mean anything?

Open Question: Can you pray for me please?

Hi everyone, I have discovered a lump on my breast it's been there for a few months now. I am very scared that it might be cancer. I am so worried that it is every I can think about it my two lil daughters a 10 month old and a 2 year old. They need me in their lives. I have an ultrasound schedule the 9th. Open Question: I broke a mirror, am so scared, but i did not look at the mirror so..?

Ok i was practicing for a play at my home and i threw a cup at my home mirror that was hanging on the wall and it broke, the mirror is kinda long and skinny, but not that big, i have the broken pieces, but i didn't look into the mirror when i broke it, so.. am i still gonna receive bad luck? i also pinch salt on my left shoulder and turn around clock wise 3 times, i also ran water on the broken mirror with out looking at it.. and i tape it together with out looking at it, but idk celebrities and actors break mirrors every the time in movies and nothing bad happens to them. Please don't tell me its every a superstition, i just want to be in the safe side. Open Question: How to stop masterbating!?

I am a 16 and a half year old boy. when i was 14 and half or smthn i started this hineos act, and was like addicted to it, i am a muslim, i knoe it is a sin, and always feel bad after doing it, i want to quit and al hamdulilah now this is the 25th day that i didnt do it. i pray, quick, i lowered my gaze every the time at school, and dont try to look at girls, and try to imagine them as my sisters, but still despite this there is the urge to masterbate, every my school friends do it, and when i first did it it was posibally their influence also, even though i didnt know what i was doing. i need help, what can i do, i even quit tv, songs etc, to lower my desires, but i want to end this act once and for every.... what advice can anyone give me to cease this bad deed, i dont want me to suddenly start again. GIVE ME AN ISLAMIC ANSWER........

I'm having some cramps in my lower back (feels like I'm about to start my period) and more than usual clear discharge. This is my third month ttc. The last two months I've had a cycle of 23-24 days. I ovulated on the tenth day. But this month I ovulated on the 14th or 15th day. I'm on day 25 now. So here are my questions: 1. Should my cycle be longer because I ovulated later? 2. Open Question: Help me place this movie!?

It was a long time ago on star movies. A movie from possibly the 1980's. The theme was an estranged husband and wife or somehow separated and they go through so much and in every they impact a lot of things unknown to them. for example something falls which causes a rock avalanche which in turn crushes a home in which a person is trying to rape a lady who is trying to pray to god to somehow keep her. there is also a cab collision involved after which they meet after being separated. I also recollect a scene where in some remote jungle of south America there is a baby delivered in a church where the female goes..I remember only bits and pieces. If it helps there is a boat as well somewhere. I think the whole movie is based on a theme of chance or how god intervenes or miracles etc etc. I know its vague but I wish someone will be able to help me. I don't recollect any actors or directors sorry ...

I am wondering because I just read a question about laylatul Qadr.... and people saying "well today is the 26th so tomorrow is 27th, pray tonight" etc etc Because I thought Ramadan started on time - meaning it started on the 11th? if it is 11th then today is Sunday 25th Ramadan.... Which is it? BQ - if today is the 26th, does that mean we pray tonight for laylatul Qadr? as the next day will be the 27th?

Open Question: Can Allah (swt) ever forgive me for this?!?!? please read im really upset?

ok im now 15 and back when i was 12-13 years old i was a really bad kid i used to steal, curse, backbite and do every bunch of crazy things but alhumdulillah last ramadan i changed myself and now never do any of these things (intentionally) but i was just at the masjid today and we read a hadith that said if a man fasts, prays, and does ibadat, BUT he has done something wrong to another person he cant enter paradise and im just really upset because ive stolen things before and cursed and backbited and i dont know what to do. I can pay them back for what i stole but in the future when i receive a job, but what if i dont make it till then i just dont know what to do help and i know i can tell them what i did and ask for forgiveness but i dont know some of the ppl i have wronged anymore like i no longer have contact with tthem because they moved or something what can i do??? am i doomed??? i know i can seek forgiveness but can allah forgive me for what ive done to others like if i do something allah says not to (not saying i do) but hypothetically if i drink alcohol allah can forgive me i know cause i wronged HIm. BUT if i wrong someone ELSE can allah forgive me for that or is it totally up to the person i have wronged???

Open Question: Question about when Leylet Al Qadr is?

So Leylet Al Qadr is during the last 10 days of Ramadan, but when they say that it is on one of the odd nights (21, 23, 25, 27, 29) i receive confused since the night starts before midnight and continues after it. So since today is 26 and tomorrow is 27...do we pray in wish for catching leylet al Qadr tonight or tomorrow night? If someone could clear this up, thanks :) I will inshallah be praying every night but im still confused :( when they say for example "night" of the 27th do they mean the night of 26 going into 27, or the night of 27 going into 28??

I remember seeing one this big in North Carolina a few years ago, but nobody believed me. then I found this video of one exactly like the one I saw. I know it isn't the Chinese mantis because they only receive about 4 or 5 inches. I know some muslim guys who are highly educated and scored very well in aptitute tests like GMAT.yet these people people are hardcore religious. they keep beard, wear skull cap most of the times, pray five times a day and whenever possible try to relate science with the Quran...how can these smart people believe in some rock age myths? does their reasoning ability halts at religious matters? @bigwheels very interesting analysis.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Du’aa’ is ‘ibaadah (worship).” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2895; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 2370). Al-Tirmidhi narrated, and classed the report as saheeh, that ‘Aa’ishah said: “I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say on that night?’ He said, ‘Say: Allaahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibb al-‘afwa fa’affu ‘anni (O Allaah, You are forgiving and You adore forgiveness, so forgive me).”

Open Question: Christians: Is it okay not to be "in touch" with Christianity?

I am curious because I had a pal who told me I am a good influence to him because he said I seem really in touch with Christianity, because I read the bible and pray everyday, and focus on works, in addition to having extraordinary discipline in regular life (God-given). But he doesn't focus on God on a regular basis, and just has fun, yet claims to be a genuine believer.A LOT OF "CHRISTIANS" are like this, and it makes me especially mad that I feel convicted almost every time I read the bible or attend a sermon, while others who are "better than me" because they grew up as a Christian say I am socially awkward because I "obsess" (term used used by lazy person to describe a determined person) about certain things I need to change in my life (mostly things I need to be doing, not mostly things I shouldn't be doing) because I'm convicted by what the Word says. They just think they're perfect because their level of Christianity is "more advanced" than mine, yet I was more mature about life than they were before I even heard about the gospel, and I am sure my condemnation for previously believing in difficult work and good deeds would have been a lot softer than theirs, for having faith, but having no evidence of it! Someone please explain to me this BS about how someone can be a Christian, but not be in touch with their possess religion? Is it like a special club, or something? I admit to watching too many Paul Washer videos, but I specifically want a "not in touch" Christian to talk up and tell me why they aren't going to hell. PRAISES TO ME FOR MY OPINION ON THIS SUBJECT IS NOT ENCOURAGED, but I encourage negative criticism as form of humility and conviction unto me, but ideally I need an answer to my question. Sorry for my profanity, and attitude, for I am a permanently angered person. Thank you. On second thought, I actually do want hear people praise me because that will provide me with even more of the biblical humility that I desire, since my question makes it sound like I am seeking praises, and seeking praises is a sin, which provides me extra conviction, which I use to change myself. Thank you. FYI homosexuals have been known to change to heterosexual through being drawn to God through Jesus Christ, and are very glad about it. Remember, that your salvation is entirely a gift from God; if you account your deeds toward it, you are not standing on solid rock. Jesus is not just a way, He is the only way.

Open Question: How can I stop thinking about a painful work episode?

How can I cease thinking about a painful work episode? A couple fo years ago, my employer approached me and said that it is better if I leave. I admit that after 6 months working in this company, I was suffering from stress and tiredness (early shift). As a consequence, I was irritated, agressive, confrontational and defensive towards employees. Although I was thinking of resigning, I did not want to because I was desperate to work and prayed God for things to receive better. On my final day, I could look that some employees and my manager were very glad as if they have orchestrated this painful situation. Today, when I look back, I am not mad about leaving this job but about the humiliation. I could not control my life and myself; everything was decided for me. I would have like to resign first but I was too sleepy, too weak. How can I cease thinking about this dramatic event and the awful people who contributed to it? Sometimes I feel that I was a wounded dog who never got a helping hand. Thank you. Carla

Open Question: Christians/Muslims, etc: Can you pacify "evil" spirits?

I have always thought that an "bad" spirit plagued me and I was right. But I found out today that you don't really have to destroy or "receive rid of" these spirits even....... You can actually change them to believe in good. They are, after every, "spirits," just like everyone, just unhappy and mad. This spirit was my foe for 10 years or more; I would have called it a "demon." Now I look that it is just a person or spirit who has pain that no one could help with; left alone, as was I before. Today, I prayed through Jesus to God about my life and this "demon" finally was pacified and wanted to be my pal then. And I think we will be now. Now I look why God thinks Jesus had good ideas. You don't have to kill your enemies. You just have to arrive to some understanding. Some people want to kill their enemies and feel good. I was plagued with a "demon" for many years. But every he wanted was understanding and to be accepted. Through my understanding of Christ, he now feels he doesn't have to be bad anymore. So IMO, Christ was right. You don't have to *kill* your enemies. Just bring them to your side. What say you? @ Jonathan-- You have a good heart and good intentions but you don't realize that "demons" act the way they do because they themselves have personal hurt, just like we do. You can pacify a demon by saying that you understand their pain and want to help, instead of hating and "exorcising" them. Many humans are like this, in pain and are bad. Will you *really* help by trying to *kill* them? Is that what Jesus would have done? I think not.......... Jesus would have empathy for any hurting or bad being and would try to bring that person or being to happiness and a more positive way of life. .... Killing someone you don't like is not a good and useful way and Jesus would never do that; even every Muslims would agree with me. Even with a demon, it is a hurting and unhappy being, yet a thinking being who feels pain....... Instead of hating them even more, like everyone has probably done to them, we should talk them through it and change them into good people.

Open Question: Depressed...help me please?

I really miss my brothers and best friends. My one brother moved far away from here, about a 10 hour steer straight or 2 days if you cease at motel. I miss him dearly, he used to be home where I could play guitar hero and jam on the real guitar with him. Computer and video games. I miss my other brother too, my other good best pal, and hes put away...hes coming home soon, but I still miss him a lot, and I can't help to sob every night, praying for him. I really adore my brothers, and both my best friends moved out of my neighbor hood, one 4 hours away , and the other in an apartment about an hour away and not even allowed to look me any more for some fucked up reason. I just don't know what to do. I am really depressed....my mom told me to stay strong , and that's what im trying to do. Im 14. Help ? PS no one in my neighbor hood to hang out with

Open Question: How come people thank god and call it a miracle when they survive an horrible crash or disease or something...?

...but they never blame god for the people that don't make it? If god can miraculously prevent people from dying, why can't he miraculously prevent the semi truck from plowing into their car in the first place? It just doesn't add up. Also, let's give the doctors or the people who designed the safety features in the car a LITTLE credit here. They worked they're a'sses off trying to prevent you from dying. They didn't sit on they're butts every day and pray that you wouldn't die, they fu'cking DID SOMETHING about it. And yes. I have had a semi truck plow into the car I was in. The right side of the car is a piece of sh'it now, but nobody was hurt (you know, apart from a few cuts from the smashed windows). @joeilee1@ No, I'm not ungrateful. I'm just giving credit only where credit is due. God didn't do jack sh'it there. It was the sturdy frame of the car and the well placed crumple-zones that saved my life. every of which was 100% caused by hardworking human beings.
